Overview

AEMO’s annual budget reflects our committed program to deliver on our core functions and responsibilities and our strategic priorities, outlined in the Strategic Corporate Plan. It is comprised of distinct financial segments, which are aligned with our sources of funding. The majority of AEMO’s financial segments are funded by fees paid by registered market participants, however, an increasing portion of AEMO’s activities are directly funded by state and federal governments and via fee-for-service arrangements.

Although there is no regulatory requirement for AEMO to do this, we engage with stakeholders on our draft budget as we consider it essential to demonstrate transparency and accountability.

From 3 to 23 April 2025, AEMO undertook public consultation on in its Draft FY26 Budget & Fees. Submissions are shared below for transparency, in line with AEMO’s Consultation Submissions Guidelines. A summary of the consultation outcomes may be found in the final budget and fees document.
